Gardener is unknown, but based on items being grown person appears to be Japanese Preserved_Specimen Plant was 3 feet tall and about 2feet wide. Entire plant was in flower and the plant looked very scraggy. The trunk was about 3/4' thick. It is commonly called Chiso, Shiso, or Beefsteak Plant. Leaves are used fresh as a condiment for raw fish, fresh in salads, fried in batter (tempura), combined with plum and vinegar and eaten with rice.
